We spend an inordinate amount of time getting ready every day – making sure our makeup is in place, taking extra care of our brows and lashes that we either have to wake up very early or risk arriving late to our appointments.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to cross out one of the steps in our daily preparation? And if you could eliminate one step, what will it be and why?

If it were up to me I would prefer to do away with having to curl my eyelashes and waiting for the mascara to dry. Fortunately, there’s a fairly new service available called eyelash perming. What exactly is it? How is it done? Is it safe? Let me dish out the details.

What is eyelash perming?

From the name itself, we can surmise that it means perming or curling our lashes. It sounds very cut-and-dried. Curl lashes, and done. It’s very simple, right? Well, not really. There’s more to it than that.

What does it do for you?

This is a valid question. In our pursuit to look good, we are willing to do almost anything (within reason) to improve our appearance. So what does eyelash perming do for us? When you get an eyelash perm, your straight lashes are curled upward. In most places, the procedure is called a lift. It makes your eyes look wider and more luminous. And very, very feminine.

What’s the procedure?

So right now you’re thinking about getting your eyelashes permed. After all, who would say no to beautiful, radiant eyes? How is it done? How long does it take? Can you do it yourself?

Check the steps below and find out.

  1. To start, your lashes are coated with a special adhesive to hold them in place and then wrapped around tiny eyelash rollers.
  2. The perming solution is applied to the lashes. The lashes (and curlers) are then covered with plastic film and left to sit for a few minutes in order for the solution to take effect.
  3. After a specified time, a neutralizer and conditioner will be applied to the lashes.

So there it is – the step by step procedure in perming eyelashes. From the steps above it’s evident that perming the eyelashes has the same procedure as perming your hair. The entire process takes roughly one hour from start to finish. And no, it is not something that you can do yourself. You can ask a friend or family member to do it, but there are risks involved since the perming solution is applied very close to the eyes. It is best that you let a professional handle it.
