Everyone has a different skin type so it is right to know that skin care routine are very personal. It is best recommended to know what routine is right for your skin type than how may steps your routine has.
Below is a 10 step routine that most Koreans commonly follow:
Included in the steps are the functions of each product, how to apply it and when they must be applied. In this way you would be clear in what steps to follow and what products to use:
- Make up Remover- Oil Cleanser
Oil cleanser can remove all the makeup entirely. Massage the cleanser on your dry face and neck, emulsifier the cleanser by adding a splash of warm water. Massage and then rinse off everything.
- Water-based cleanser
Remove the remaining impurities and residue from the oil cleanse by washing the face using a water-based cleanser.
- Exfoliator
Exfoliating even just twice a week is needed for polished and clear skin. Gently massage the exfoliator or tap an exfoliant for a smooth and silky skin.
- Toner
When the skin has dried up it is more difficult to re-hydrate it. Toners help dampen the skin. It also balance the levels of pH. Sprinkle on hands and tap directly into face.
- Essence
Essence is the heart of the Korean’s skin care routine. It is a type of serum/toner mixture designed for hydrating and repairing the skin as well as a cell turnover. Pat it on a freshly toned skin.
- Treatments
Serums, boosters and ampules are considered essences that cures your skin problems directly. Tap theses gently into the skin to treat acne, fine wrinkles, pigmentation. Large pores, etc.
- Sheet masks
The soul of the Korean skin care routine is the sheet mask. They provide meditating, quiet and nourishing ritual. Put one sheet on the face and let it stay for 15-20 minutes. You can apply it everyday or twice a week.
- Eye cream
Eye cream provides hydration and protection to the delicate area around the eyes. Gently tap the eye cream around the eye.
- Moisturizer
Moisturizers help hydrate and seal in moisture in the face to smooth fine lines and plump up the skin. Pat every morning and night on face and neck.
- Sun Protection
Sun protection is the most effective way of preventing premature skin aging and skin cancer. It is recommended to be applied everyday.
